Off Season Training Means Post Season Accolades & Competition for Tracksters

While most kids sat around in the off season these athletes came in and put in Work! Most started their off season programs in September. The young ladies continued their training even during the season. Track is more than just “getting in shape”.  Our off season programs work on technique, develop the critical small muscle groups and teach fatigue management so that when the season starts you have a strong foundation on which to compete.  Thank you to the athletes and parents who understand and appreciate the value in that. Pleasure working with your and your athletes.

Gamespeed tracksters run well at USA Junior Nationals

daylee dunn

Congrats to Daylee Dunn. The talented twelve year old placed 4th in her age division in the 800m Final.  She was 11th overall in the 400m and 28th in the 80m hurdles. Daylee ran 2.19.00 in the 800m at the regional meet. Her 800m time would put her in the NCS list at #14 among high school athletes and she’s only in the 7th grade!  Great job my “little one!”

Alyssa Brewer competing in her first national meet ran spectacularly. I would bet she was the most inexperienced runner in her 400m final. She placed 5th. Her semi final time of 56.69 would rank her 5th in NCS among this year high school athletes and definitely qualify her for the state meet. Guess what, shes only 13 years old.

GS athlete Ed Lampkin runs in honor of late grandparents.

Below is an article on Edward Lampkin a sprinter at Sacred Heart Cathedral in the San Francisco area.  A talented athlete who can run anything from 100m to 800m. The Mercury news did a nice feature on him. Ed lampkin

Ed makes the trip from San Francisco on the weekends (Sunday Track class) to tweak his form and work on strategies for his race the 400m. A very talented athlete who has great range he competed most of the year in the 100m and 200m with a lot of success. The speed work helped pay off with a second place finish in the 400m (48.91) at Central Coast Sectionals this past weekend. He narrowly missed first place (48.78). However, it was good enough to advance to the state meet later this month.

He’s been accepted at several schools including University of La Verne, University of Redlands, Eastern Washington, University of Alabama, Fisk University, Weber State and Fresno State. With  good showing at the state meet that list will grow. I think he’ll be able to add a few more. Good luck Ed.

Track: GS Athletes perfrom well in first All Comers Meet of the year

Cal Berkeley Saturday Jan 14th.

A few Gamespeed athletes competed in the first Cal Berkeley track meet of the season.  In track a good preseason regiment is probably the most important part of having a successful season. It can ensure a higher level of performance , reduce the risk of injury, and allow you to hone valuable racing skill.  Most of these athletes have been working hard for the past couple of months and its showing in their performances.

The Results:

Trevor Holmgren (San Ramon): 400m 51.92  Won his heat of the 400m with a time that is one full second better than his opening time a year ago.  A huge improvement.  He was the second fastest high school athlete overall.  He later competed in the 4x800m relay with his SRV teammates.

Annie Geasa (Foothill): 400m  65.84.  In her debut in the 400m Annie did’nt know what to expect but executed a solid run placing 3rd in her heat. An 800m runner a solid 400 time bodes well for a big drop in the 800m. Her times will only get better and it looks like she may have found a second event.

Karra Gardin (Moreau): […]
