ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE TRAINING
You can clock a pitch with radar or time a run with a watch, but everything else is subjective so if two guys are equal in your perception then you go to the hard numbers.

You mentioned that the Reds used a mark of 7.0 or under as their cut point for 60 yards, what are some acceptable times for ball players? Do they differ per position?
Rob: There are some general times that are acceptable and athletes should be able to run these minimum times. Scouts also time not just 60 yard dashes but time from home to first base from point of contact with the ball. The minimum standards are: Catchers, 1st & 3rd basemen 7.1-7.2 sec. Left and Right Fielders 6.9-7.0, Middle infielders and Center 6.9 and under and pitchers not particular time. But you don't want a pitcher that cant move fast enough to recover bunts or cover bases.
