The Start: This is of critical importance. The first phase is the stance and there are 2 times: 3-point and 4-point.
3-Point Stance: Have the strong leg in front (jumping leg) 16-20 inches from the starting line or 2 1/2 shoe lengths. Place your back foot 24-36 inches behind the starting line or 3-3 1/2 shoe lengths. Drop your back leg knee to the ground. Keep the knee aligned with the ball of your foot. Right handers place your left hand down behind the line, resting on your fingertips (Lefthandersreverse). Bring hips straight up so that there is a 90 degree bend in |
the front leg and a 135 degree bend in the back leg (do not stay to low or raise too high). There should be pressure on
the hands and both feet for effectivev push off. Bring the right arm just above the waist as if running position.
4-Point Stance: Like a 3-Point stance but with both hands on . |
